Late I have been very busy working on getting things ready for when the Singapore team comes. While they are here they would like to conduct at least two feedings. Along with feedings they would like to distribute relief clothing and provide medical assistance to the slum areas. Because YWAM Dagupan (which is where I live) is hosting the team we have been busy putting everything together. These past few days Queeny and I have been walking the streets to differ clothing shops asking for discounted clothing. It has been hard for us to find kids clothing because many second hand stores don’t have kids clothes.

Most of the times the feeding become very chaotic with all the people wanting food. We have brainstorming ideas of how to make it effective. We modified the “write the names on bags” idea for family groups. Again Queen and I are going to the homes of the people in the slum and asking how many people live in their home, how many children, whether they are boys or girls. This way we can make bags of clothes accordingly. Taking down names was more difficult then we had planned on and took two days worth of time. Our second day, which is today we spent the morning collecting more names. I believe we collected about 150 families info. We let the people come to us this time, we sat in an open area and there was a large crowd around us, shouting our their names and how many children they had and how old they were. It was actually fun/funny. There was this thoughtful woman that was providing a fan for us, by fanning us with a piece of cardboard. But she kept wacking us both on the head with the cardboard when she wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing. But it was very thoughtful, especially because I was sweating immensely.

There is still more work to do in preparing for the team and the distribution of the goods. I am very excited though because I do believe this will be my first encounter with a person form Singapore, although there will be people from other countries in this team too.

Please be praying that the team will be able to raise lots of funds so we can really bring relief to the people of Dagupan. Also be praying that because of what we are doing people will come to know Christ.

Oh, today we got to pass out the Bible that were purchased a while back. The young students at Pantal in our Bible study got to have a new Bible in Tagalog. For most of them this will be their family’s only Bible. Everyone was very happy.

  1. great stuff i was thinking about you the other day, while I’m here in the peruvian amazon jungle I’ve heard and actually ate a lot of weird stuff, but I also learned that in the philipines they eat duck embryon, have you tried it?

is not that I don’t care about your spiritual growth, but just a lil sharing on how you are doing to get used to the culture

  2. Great stuff, Maggie! It seems that you’re not feeling overwhelmed by the needs, which is good. It’s difficult to remember that God has even these things under control. He’s drawing people closer to himself through you. Lord, we pray that you would reddem these floods, in Jesus’ name. And work through Maggie, we pray. Amen.

  3. Great to hear about the relief your group is providing for the less fortunate. I pray the Singapore team will be a blessing for all.

Funny story about fan lady. April is envy of all the rice..hehe.
