I got an awesome opportunity to go horse riding this Sunday. The day was sunny and just warm enough to be really enjoyable! If you have ever gone horse riding you would know that it is important in the beginning to prepare the horse to be ridden everything from grooming to warming up. Horses love attention; to be touch and ridden.
When riding a horse you must be the one in control, otherwise the horse will just go anywhere and everywhere which could be very dangerous to the horse and the rider. Some horses don’t want to give up control and be told where to go or how. I feel as though my life can be very similar to this, in relation to God and letting him control my life. I, being the wild horse and God, being the one who guides.
God wants to lead my life and take me down the beautiful paths, but so very often I want to do my own thing or I don’t want to let God have complete control of my life. I love the moments God showers me with his love, takes care of me and grooms me to make me beautiful, but when it comes to letting him tell me where to go I’m very resistant. It takes a few tries to get me galloping up a hill, but once I finally start I love it and could go forever!
The point of my little confused analogy let God be the one who guides you and you will be filled with Joy because he is in control.
It wasn’t confused
Maggie –
WOW! I love reading what you write. God has gifted you in communicating! I’ve been ispired by what you’re learning and I want you to know that our world outreach team is praying for you. Keep being in step with Christ! He’s OBVIOUSLY at work in your life. I would love to hear more about the “basement” church. sounds awesome!
Magita,
Loved it. At first I was like…hmmmmm…where is she goin with this…i thought u were going to say that the horse kicked you off or something lol…but that analogy was amazing…it really got me thinking…u have a lot of potential and God has a lot in stored for you…u keep it up…and dont be forgettin about me…i need to be wat u on…like im kind of there sometimes but i really wanna be there all the time u know…it upsets me when i backslide, but i can honestly say that looking at u and wat u r doin with ur life makes me want to be better…u set a great example of wat a child of God should be…I Love you and I Love that ur my friend even if u did find a new boo in Gainesville…
this is good. lots of analogies here. with the grooming you had me thinking about John 15 – abiding in Him, he abides in us – our joy is made full.
Maggie,
You are a great inspiration to me and many others too! You’re learning life lessons that will always be needed in future relationships like marriage, etc. I love how you’re seeking God and seeing ways that God is trying to speak to you and as you seek him you’re finding him so good, faithful, trustworthy and awesome! He is all that and so much more as you know!!
Will you be coming home at Christmas?
Love you!!
Love it Mags!
Makes me think of the verse, too, that says,”Do not be like the horse or mule whose trappings include bit and bridle otherwise they will not come near to you.”
I imagine that a bit can cause pain in the mouth to make the horse go in the direction the rider wants. I don’t want it to be pain that draws me nearer to God or changes my direction. I want to yield and trust. I want to be like you saidgalloping and loving it with God in control, keeping me safe.
This is beautiful maggie. Seriously, great illustration.
Maggie, wow. what a great community of fans you have here! i would encourage you write more stories and draw deeper meanings from your experiences this year (it’ll help process and you won’t regret writing down some of what God does this year). I agree that it’d be nice to have a pic or two and maybe see some longer posts in the future. keep up the good work!
How great to see you noticing things in our everyday life paralleling with God’s plan for us.
Hi Maggie, what a terrific analogy in so many ways. I’m going to sign off now and just go think about this.
Hey Mags….where are the pics of your great adventure!!!
Yah..I agree with story. I believe all can relate at some point in life.
